First Fundraiser....

We did our first Fundraiser on Friday 17^th December, and we raised money for NSPCC this is a charity for children, and the event went really well and some of the money raised went towards our trip to Prague! We went round our college for about an hour to see if we can raise any money. We split up in groups to go around the college and these were Hayley, Steph D-C and Lorna, Ross, Steph B, Kristy and Gemma and Blaise, Kaleigh and me. As it was Christmas we all made an effort to look Christmassy and dressed as Elf’s or tried to wear something Christmassy. As it was the last day of term there weren’t many people at college, however we still raised £69.78 which was really good!! And it means that some of the money will go towards our Prague trip which means a little bit of the trip has been paid.

After we had raised the money Kaleigh and Lorna had to go to the finance department in the college to bank the money as they are the finance team. We are now planning our second fund raising event which will be sorted out by Blaise, Steph B and Hayley which means we will be able to raise more money!

First Meeting....

We had our first meeting on Friday 10^th December, we had a list of things which we needed to do and as part of being on the transport team Kristy and I had to look at the prices of flights. As a group we all decided that we wanted to go to Prague on Monday 9^th to Thursday 12^th May we then all started to look at prices for the flights, we wanted to fly with easyJet and parents would drive us to and from the airport which means we wouldn’t have to pay for parking only petrol money.  We found out the flight roughly cost around £80 which means when we first looked at the prices they haven’t changed in price they have stayed the same which is good!!

As well as finding out prices for flights as a group we also looked at hotel prices, and attractions, however the meeting didn’t go that well as some people didn’t research the information which was needed.

We are trying to organise a fundraising event for on Friday 17^th December, so come back to this page and see what happened!!

First Stage...

We all had our first lesson on Prague on 26th November, during this lesson we all had to do 'A Self Perception Inventory' Test  from Doctor Meredith Belbin. We had seven questions which we had to complete to find out if we were an Implementor, Co-ordinator, Shaper, Plant, Resource Investigator, Monitor Evaluator, Team Worker and Completer Finisher. I found out that i scored the highest on Implementor which means conservative, dutiful, predictable, organising ability, practical common-sense, hard working and self discipline. This helped us to be put into teams, and i am on the Transport team and working with Kristy.

Duties and Responsibilities-  Arrange bookings and transfers in the UK and Prague, check everyone in, leading departure date, arrange meeting points, decide to have baggage or not.


The first thing which we had to do as part of being on the transport team was to find out the cost of flights to Prague, for the dates which we wanted to go. Everyone was set a task depending on which group they were in the groups were Fundraising, Accommodation, Attractions and entertainment and Admin and communications and health and safety co-ordinators.

Introduction...

Heyya my names Megan :D I’m 17 years old, I live in Essex! I’m a very short person (Which isn’t good) I love going out with my friends and love to have a laugh!! So now for the boring stuff! I’m currently studying Travel & Tourism at Colchester Institute, I want to go university after but not to sure!! I really want to take part in Camp America and go travelling! Don’t mind where!!

The main reason which I'm writing this blog is because as part of my assignment for Travel & Tourism we have to organise and plan an overseas trip. Part of this was to present our own destination and then as a group we would vote to choose which destination appealed to us the most. We eliminated it down to two these were Rome and Prague! We then had to choose which ones were the best and Prague won the vote which means that we shall be going to Prague next May as our overseas Trip :D

I will be posting my findings and keeping everyone up to date, with what has been happening whilst planning this trip.
